Fabric plus stitching. Appliqué covers large areas with fabric instead of dense thread — lighter designs, bold texture and real colour contrast.
Appliqué stitches a piece of fabric onto the garment as part of the design. The machine first sews a placement line, then a tack-down stitch holds the fabric in place, and finally a cover stitch — usually satin — finishes the edge. The result is a design that looks big and bold but feels light, because most of the area is fabric, not thread.
It is ideal for large logos, varsity lettering, names and numbers, and any design where dense fill stitching would make the garment stiff and heavy.
